GVRAT1000k – 207.06k

My ankle was feeling a lot of pain yesterday, so in the spirit of listening to my body, I (virtually) stayed in Selmer for the day. Today it was feeling a good deal better so I (virtually) followed the road until I stopped for the day just a couple of miles west of Adamsville. There was not a whole lot to (virtually) see along the course today except a Southern Guns store. I opted not to arm myself as I doubt my journey will warrant it.

Today I (virtually) made it to Selmer! The area seems to have a strong rockabilly vibe. I can (virtually) dig it! Maybe I’ll (virtually) stop by the Hillbilly Treasures antique shop. It looks like it may have some interesting treasures.

I (virtually) ran through Hornsby today. Then I went by Big Buck Resort and Campground where I was (virtually) tempted to go swimming with a bunch of ducks! After resisting the urge I kept going for a couple more miles before ending my run for the day.

I must have had a really hard night at Kim’s Place (virtually). I (virtually) woke up and having missed two days figured I’d better try to make up some extra. I (virtually) passed by Backermann’s Country Market which had a petting zoo attached. After (virtually) feeding some goats and myself, I made it all the way to the east side of Bolivar for the day.

This morning I (virtually) ran through Somerville, TN! I was tempted to (virtually) stop at Jalapeno’s for a late Cinco de Mayo Celebration, but thought it better if I keep on truckin’. I’m going to park a couple miles east of Lacona for the day. I just (virtually) passed Kim’s Place a mile or so ago. Maybe I’ll walk back there for a (virtual) drink.

I decided to take it easy today with a 5k run/walk with Leo. He and I (virtually) followed along US-64 just a little closer to Somerville. I (virtually) made it to the outskirts of town at Landry’s Pharmacy. My left foot is feeling a little bit of concerning pain, so maybe I’ll (virtually) ask the pharmacist what they recommend.

This morning I (virtually) left the Three Bird Zoo and headed east on US-64 for the day. I (virtually) ran through a small town called Oakland. It was okay. They had a cute park. I continued on a little past the town and (virtually) landed at Glengary Lake between Oakland and Somerville. I am imaging the lake was built by a couple of guys named Glen and Gary who couldn’t decide a better way to name it.

GVRAT1000k – 90.32k

After (virtually) finishing my deli food, I took off for another few miles. I had a (virtual) pacer, Ty, with me this time. As I ran with him I got fully out of Memphis and am going to (virtually) spend the evening at a place called Three Bird Zoo. It has a nice lake next to it!

This also ends my first 100 mile week ever! It sorta happened by accident. I didn’t plan to do it this week, but when I saw how close I was, I figured I might as well go for it.

This beautiful Sunday’s portion of the course through Tennessee took me (virtually) through Midtown Memphis to start with. I (virtually) ran by the Children’s Museum of Memphis before getting on the Greenline which took me through and along Shelby Farms Park. It was a beautiful run. I (virtually) stopped this run in Cordova to (virtually) get a bite to eat at the Cox Corner Market. I’ll probably be getting a few more miles in before I call it a day.

GVRAT1000k – 44.77k

Today I started south of West Memphis on the Arkansas side of the river and crossed over into Memphis in Tennessee! I’m 27.82 miles (or 44.77k) into my 1000k journey across the state. It looks like I’ll be (virtually) spending the rest of the day/night until tomorrow’s run in an auto repair industry part of town. I’ve been meaning to learn a thing or two more about cars. Maybe this is my chance!
